YSAWID

December 2004, Saldanha Naval College

The Young South African Women in Dialogue (YSAWID) is an offshoot of the inter-generational Annual Dialogue.

The programme is intended to address the specific concerns of young women in areas of personal development, economic participation, and the strengthening of their democratic knowledge, while continuing their participation within the inter-generational dialogues. This is in recognition of the fact that the twenty-first century challenges that they face are often beyond the comprehension of the majority of their seniors, while they continue to suffer societal prejudices in equal measure.

From the 10th to the 14th of December 2007, Young South African Women will meet at the Assemblies of God Conference Center, in Henley–on–Klip, Meyerton to empower themselves with knowledge of survival strategies and personal and economic development.  The dialogue will start on Tuesday the 11th of December at 9:00 am, and Minister Lulu Xingwana will present the Key Note Address.

The dialogue, themed Personal Development & Economic Empowerment: Young Women Taking Action, is being organized in the context of SAWID’s broader strategic direction of maximizing the SAWID platform through localizing the program. This strategy places poverty eradication through the economic empowerment of women across their developmental stages as a top priority.
